Identity Exploration
Identity exploration is a deeply personal journey that involves gently peeling back the layers to understand and witness your true self—your values, your story, and the parts of you that sometimes get lost or overlooked. In this safe and supportive space, you are invited to heal old wounds, grow, and embrace the unique person you are meant to be, with kindness and compassion for yourself every step of the way.

Life Transitions
Life is full of change, and sometimes those changes can feel overwhelming or uncertain. Whether it’s starting a new job, ending a relationship, moving to a new place, or facing a big milestone, life transitions bring a mix of emotions. In therapy, these moments are seen as important opportunities for growth and self-discovery where you can explore your feelings openly without judgment. We will work to understand the impact of these changes, honor the loss or excitement they bring, find ways to move forward with strength and compassion, build resilience, and create new meaning.

Trauma Recovery
Healing from trauma often means reconnecting with parts of yourself that have been hidden or hurt by prolonged suffering. I use Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), which focuses on creating a compassionate space where you can explore difficult emotions and experiences. It emphasizes the power of the therapeutic relationship to help you have new, corrective emotional interactions that can transform long-held trauma responses. We will work together to help you move beyond survival mode, rebuild your sense of safety and trust, and foster a renewed connection with yourself and others.
I have a specialization in treatment of Religious Trauma, Spiritual Abuse, and the impact of Purity Culture.

Grief and Loss
Losing something or someone we love can feel like a deep, heavy sadness mixed with emptiness. It can bring confusion, pain, anger or numbness. You may often feel overwhelmed, lonely, and disconnected as you try to adjust to life without what was lost. Through empathetic listening and guided conversation, I am here to support you as you move through the pain, to heal in a way that feels right for you.

Janet Carson
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon and California, offering virtual counseling to Adults 18 and older. I enjoy working with clients to uncover what might be holding them back from fully developing and living as their most true selves, especially when trauma or unhelpful patterns cause them to feel stuck. I believe that everyone has the innate ability to heal and grow when they feel safe and supported. I love accompanying clients on their journey toward healing and growth, witnessing them unfold into their fullest selves, and cultivating richer, more meaningful relationships.
“When we deny our stories, they define us.
When we own our stories, we get to write a brave new ending.”
